Dr. Denise Faustman has started clinical trials on humans using using a tuberculosis vaccine to cure Type 1 diabetes by suppressing the immune system response and regenerating the cells that produce insulin. This therapy has already cured Type 1 in mice and different studies have been able to replicate her results. Her work is being funded by Lee A. Iacocca, who lost his wife to Type 1 diabetes.
